Annual reports of the Subdepartment of Quaternary Research

It was a requirement that the SDQR Director, who was responsible to the Heads of the Departments of Geology, of Archaeology and Anthropology, and in later years to the Department of Geography, as well as to the Head of Department of Botany (latterly Plant Sciences), submit an annual report of activities.  These reports represented an academic year, i.e. October to September of the following year.  

The reports form a vital record of activities and personnel of the Subdepartment during its 46 year history.  They may be downloaded below from this site.

Also included is a policy paper, dated December 1943, produced by Dr (later Sir) Harry Godwin, proposing the establishment of the Subdepartment to the University's governing General Board.
